Isooctan
Isooctan eller 2,2,4-trimethylpentan er en giftig, brandfarlig, flygtig, organisk alkan og en isomer af oktan. Tilgængelig i forskellige mængder og reagenskvaliteter er det et antibankemiddel i benzin. Andre applikationer omfatter brug som en ikke-polær opløsningsmiddel .
Isooctan (eller iso-octan), også kendt under sit IUPAC-navn 2,2,4-trimethylpentan, C8H18 eller CAS 540-84-1, er en organisk kulbrinte alkan og en isomer form af oktan. Strukturelt består den af pentan med to methylgrupper i position 2 og en enkelt methylgruppe i position 4. Det er en klar, farveløs, flygtig væske, ikke blandbar med vand, med en benzinlignende lugt. Fysiske data: kogepunkt 99,3 °C; massefylde 0,69 g/cm³ ; smeltepunkt− 107,3 °C.
Anvendelser af isoctan
• Som et generelt formål opløsningsmiddel , fortynder, renere og affedtningsmiddel
• Som en komponent i organisk syntese i kemilaboratoriet
• Som en opløsningsmiddel i spektrofotometrisk analyse
• Som en opløsningsmiddel i sporanalyse af pesticider og herbicidrester
• Som en opløsningsmiddel i HPLC
Nye applikationer omfatter brug som en indlejringsvæske i vævsfiksering og histologi, mens bredere industrielle applikationer omfatter brug til fremstilling af frostvæsker, belægninger, fyldstoffer, plastre, ler, maling, smøremidler og biocider.
Dette produkt fås i en lang række kvaliteter til specifikke anvendelser, for eksempel ekstra ren/ekstra tør til analyse, LC/MS og HPLC.
Isooctane er en meget brandfarlig væske, skadelig ved indånding og giftig, hvis den frigives til miljøet. Opbevaring på et køligt og sikkert sted anbefales derfor.
