General Description

  • Paclitaxel is a tetracyclic diterpenoid isolated from the Pacific yew, Taxus brevifolia
  • Paclitaxel acts as an antineoplastic agent by binding tubulin and preventing cell division
  • Paclitaxel may also bind Bcl-2 and lead to disinhibition of apoptosis

Application

  • Paclitaxel is used in the study of lung, breast, and ovarian cancers; it may be useful in the research of other cancer types
