For maximum recovery please spin prior to use. Unless noted below, aliquots of the 5 μg, 10 μg and 20 μg sizes of kinase are not recommended as materials can be used in original packaging until exhausted. For larger sizes, the number of freeze/thaws may be reduced by preparing aliquots, aliquots below 20 μL are not recommended. Please never store a kinase diluted. PIP4K2A lipid kinase or phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinase, type II, alpha, is a member of the phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinase family that catalyzes the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate on the fourth hydroxyl of the myo-inositol ring to form phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate. PIP4K2A plays an essential role in the phosphoinositide signal transduction cascades as the precursor to second messengers and is involved in the regulation of secretion, cell proliferation, differentiation, and motility. PIP4K2A may be one of the factors related to the regulation of the beta-globin gene expression and the different levels of Hb H in alpha-thalassemic patients.
