lucifer yellow biocytin, potassium salt (biocytin lucifer yellow)

The water-soluble neuronal tracer lucifer yellow biocytin can be detected in fixed tissues by using avidin or streptavidin probes. However, lucifer yellow biocytin can also be observed directly in fixed or unfixed samples because the attached lucifer yellow dye produces yellow fluorescence (absorption/emission maxima ∼428/536 nm).
