eIF3G is an RNA-associated protein involved in protein synthesis. It is a member of the eIF-3 subunit G family and the largest of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor family with eukaryotic translation initiation factor-3 (eIF3) being a multiprotein complex composed of at least 13 different subunits. eIF3G has a RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain and is known to interact with eIF3K. The function of eIF3G is to bind to the 40S ribosomal subunit and promote the binding of methionyl-tRNAi and mRNA. This subunit of eukaryotic translation initiation factor-3 also binds to the 18S rRNA. It ...
